Server Fans Produce Excessive Noise – Reset IPMI to Factory Default Settings

This is usually caused by a sensor not properly being read out. Have you checked the sensor and log pages in IPMI to check?

You can try to reset IPMI to factory defaults with the below procedure.

Perform an IPMI module Reset:

  1. Use “IPMICFG –RAW 0x30 0x41”  to reset to factory default (ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/utility/IPMICFG/ )
  2. Remove AC power cord for ~1 minute
  3. Use IPMICFG to set MAC and IP address if necessary.

 Default password will be ADMIN /ADMIN again.

Browser and JAVA cache should  be cleared before using KVM (otherwise the same issue may occur again).
