Supermicro 2U TwinPro Servers
The 2U Twin server systems family further rises the bar for server expandability and configuration flexibility. Going ahead with server node and CPU per rack unit density aspirations Supermicro makes available 2U dual node and 2U quad-node server systems to cloud service providers, datacenter operators and HPC professionals.
Each server node in 2U Twin allows installation of up to 2 x 22-Core Intel Xeon (up to 145W TDP) or AMD Opteron multi-core processors and supports up to 2TB of ECC DDR4 memory.
The recently launched 2U TwinPro server systems based on the Intel Xeon E5-2600 version 4 processors brings the new level of performance gains and advantages due to the use of faster server processors, 2400MHz DDR4 memory, NVMe solid state drives directly connected to the PCIe bus and 12 Gb/s SAS storage technology. For the computationally intensive applications even greater performance bump may be achieved by the use of GPUs in dual node TwinPro systems.
A gamut of networking options in 2U TwinPros includes 1Gb/s, 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s Ethernet and 56Gb/s Infiniband network interfaces, as well as additional datacenter optimized SFP+ network interfaces through the standard PCIe 3.0 x8 and proprietary “0” slots.
The latest addition of the Super I/O Module (SIOM) models to the family further increases network configuration flexibility of TwunPro systems. Instead of fixed high-speed network interfaces embedded into the server node baseboard SIOMs may be added and interchanged as needed.
2U Twin nodes, depending on model, may have either 24 x 2.5” or 12 x 3.5” SAS or SATA disk drives or SSDs. All models ship with advanced server management controllers and make remote server management easy and efficient.
